Apology not accepted! Thomas Tuchel blasts Dietmar Hamann over 'shocking' criticism of Bayern Munich boss

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has snapped back at Dietmar Hamann after the ex-Liverpool midfielder criticised the manager for praising La Liga.

  WHAT HAPPENED?

  Hamann slammed Tuchel earlier this week after the Bayern boss praised La Liga, and claimed that a move abroad, to manage a foreign club, would appeal to him in the future. The ex-Liverpool midfielder read his comments as, essentially, a pitch to Barcelona following the news that Xavi would be leaving at the end of the season, but he has since apologised, and Bayern even released a statement insisting that they would no longer "accept such non-factual statements", with Hamann and Tuchel having clashed earlier this season too.

• WHAT TUCHEL SAID

  The ex-Chelsea manager appears to care little that Hamann has apologised, as he is quoted by Sport1: "The things that happened were completely taken out of context and said deliberately. Statements were deliberately made that were not true. I was at a fan meeting and we were all shocked at what he [Hamann] made of it. That's why I don't care if he apologised. I don't buy it and that's why it's irrelevant."

  Bayern are currently in an unfamiliar position, as they sit second in the Bundesliga, two points behind unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen. They beat Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1 on Saturday, however, coming from a goal behind to earn a much-needed three points.

  Their next match comes against Leverkusen next weekend in one of the biggest games in the Bundesliga season. A win for Xabi Alonso's side would mark them out as genuine contenders, but Tuchel and Co will aim to restore their hegemonic status, having established a stranglehold on the Bundesliga title in the last decade.
